When it’s so stupid you have to laugh.

I work at a school in the maintenance department. We handle repairs and custodial duties. One of my coworkers today mopped one of the main set of stairs at approximately 6:30 AM. Naturally, to be safe, he set up wet floor signs, in case anyone came in early. At around 7:15 AM when I was leaving (I'm night shift) they were mostly dry, but still damp in places. I decided it was best to leave the signs up. Students come in at around 7:30 AM. School is grades K3-8 (yes you read that correctly, and yes that is way too young for children to be attending school). You would assume that there would be a modicum of supervision at a school, especially considering the lower spectrum of the age distribution of the students. Fast forward to around 11am, I get a text from one of the office workers, who claimed…

Fast forward to around 11am, I get a text from one of the office workers, who claimed they were “not trying to be difficult”. The text essentially was complaining about the signs because the 3 year Olds were confused by them (signs are perplexing apparently) and climbing over them. They then justified their complaint that they “absolutely cannot have a 3 year old falling down those stairs”.

No concern over wet stairs, no concern over damp floors, no concern over the lack of supervision, the signs are the obvious problem.

After laughing, I had to genuinely take a moment to figure out a response that wasn't “are you fucking kidding me” . I filed this under “bullshit I never thought I would have to deal with but here we are”.

Considering asking what is the appropriate method to convey a warning of wet floors if not wet floor signs .

I figured you guys might get some enjoyment from this, and can share some of your laughably ridiculous work experiences.

Edit: A word.
