The infamous 'if you have time to lean you have time to clean'
How did American work culture get so, abusive?
I actually got a sit down talking to at work, because one of my supervisors complained to management about feeling their authority was undermine
The reasoning: I simply expressed in other cultures as a cashier they're allowed to sit, and also if a guest brings in their own bags they have to bag the their groceries themselves
This was after she told me not to lean against my register in at the time was an empty store, because it looks unprofessional. I simply replied my feet feel sore and I was taking some pressure off, expressing how American work conditions are kinda inhumane especially when it comes to retail in and she just told management.
In my mind I'm like I'm a cashier at a organic grocery store, I stand for 8-10 a day, my feet hurt all the time and I just want to take a little of the weight off. I've never once judged a cashier at a grocery store for the things they've attempted to try to correct me and coworkers in the name of professionalism which sounds a lot more like micromanaging
No matter how much you do in a place you work, if you work too efficiently they basically use you until they burn you completely out and then want to ask what happened to your work ethic. But I just don't understand this visceral reaction upper management and people on computers all day have with seeing lower level employees doing nothing out of they 8 hours for maybe like 5-10 mins
