Why do people treat you like you like something is wrong with you for choosing personal time over working more.

At my old job I regularly worked over 55 hours a week. It wasn't rare for me to hit 70. I would sometimes only see my kids while they were sleeping for up to 4 days straight. At the JOB I currently work at I work 40 hours. I chose this job so I could have more family time. My coworker bragged about getting over 160 hours in two weeks. He treated me like I'm lazy for being fine working only 40 hours a week. I pay my bills and am building a slow savings and a really slow retirement. I've also been asked why I don't move into management. It's regular for managers to work 6 days 11 hours. Not always but it's it not rare. When I answer that I like to spend time with my family they start telling about missing their kids childhood like it's what…

This goes for single, childless people too. YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE TO WORK ALL THE TIME TO NOT BE CONSIDERED LAZY!
