Why don’t more Americans move?

This is a very US-centric subreddit, for very understandable reasons both in terms of the nationality of the majority of posters and in terms of the glaring issues in the US labour system. What I’d like to ask, as a Brit, is how easy is it to try somewhere else as an American? There’s no restrictions on moving to another state to live and work right? Do people do that commonly to look for fairer opportunities? If not why not? Which states have fairer employment laws? Also, why don’t more people emigrate? American education is generally well respected abroad and there must be countries where Americans could get a fairer deal? And a brain drain would be a huge problem for American employers and would serve as an opportunity for self-correction. What are the barriers for an American wanting to emigrate?
