I mean, guys, your working and health condition really suck. I've been grown in Western Europe (Italy), here we were not really touched by the American dream. Our nation is surely americanized but there are plenty of things we would not accept (ie being fired for no reason or not having free healthcare). Surely Italy isn't the best country in the world. We have plenty of problems too, starting from relatively low-wages (although our percentage of working poor is lower than the US), insane waiting time for routine medical controls (not really free but not costly) and relatively spreaded corruption. BUT if we have some real health issue we would go straight to the hospital and being taken care by some pretty good doctors. If we are sick we have something about 3 months of paid leave and the next three month with 50% of our wages. We can't get fired because our boss wants and, if he does, he must give plenty of money. Morever, the country will provide by giving 80% of our wage for at most 24 months (decressingly – 60% in last months) until we find a new job.
Reading about your living and working conditions just strengthens my idea of how shitty American working sistem is and how you should all move to Western Europe. I mean, I understand why you don't. There are plenty of reasons why you souldn't. But things are better here.
P.S. I live in the north of Italy, which sadly is MUCH richer than the south.
