Just a little background, I was living somewhere else had to move back home due to Covid and I’ve been working retail for about 4-5 years so you can say I know what typically goes down at a store. Therefore coming back I got hired at a new clothing store at a mall which I had to drive about 45mins away due to me living in a small town and not really having any work opportunities here. Now fast forward about 2 months. I’ve made friends, and have gotten to know everyone. Now the only problem in those 2 months of me working there is the manger. She always has something to say about me or to me. But her favorite thing to comment on was how I dressed. It had gotten to a point where she would literally always end our group texts with “remember dress appropriately” which we all knew she meant me. Now you’re asking yourself well what were you wearing that makes her say that? Well let me tell you, a freakin tshirt and jeans. She didn’t like the way it “hugged me” therefore meaning I don’t like that I can tell you have big boobs…. But what bothered me so much about this is we’re a “plus size friendly, and don’t judged people” kinda store yet here’s the freakin manager being like this and everyone can see but no one says anything. More months go by other stuff happens, she’s being shaddy and I just keep ignoring her and try different options to hide my assets. Now we’re at inventory period. So how this works is, we go help other stores and they come help us. One afternoon on my day off she texts me if I can go help a store in another town which is another 45mins away and she’ll give me a gas card so I reluctantly agree. My thought process on this was cool my friend lives there, I can ask to sleep there then explore the city so it wouldn’t be so bad. Comes the week of helping that store I go into my managers office to ask for the gas card which to my dismay she pretends she never said that and doesn’t want to give it to me and when I tried to back out she goes well you’ve used all your days, will get a written up if I don’t go and that I was being super inconvenient. Now that was my last straw…Coming the day of doing inventory, I tell no one what I’m about to do, which is quit. Literally just not show up and I don’t care. But don’t worry I already had another job lined up so I would be okay. Anyway it’s the day I’m supposed to be there, 8:30 comes around she reaches out to me that the manager was looking for me which I just text back “yeah, no I quit” she tries calling me saying I’m gonna make her look bad, how dare I, blah blah blah. I never answered back and she just sent a thumbs up emoji
Fast forward 2 weeks after that people reached out to me and told me shit went down after I left. Let’s just say karma happened. Corporate showed up she wasn’t even at the store, yet was clocked in. They looked into it some more and she got fired for stealing hours and ya know being inconvenient.
