Why I’m Quitting

So, I've been working for the same company for almost four years. It was my first job out of college. I was hired on at $12/hr. All of my evaluations have been glowing. I got quarter raises for my 3 month and 6 month evaluations and then moved up to $15/hr at my one year mark. Here's some of the BS I've put up with: A Karen of a coworker. She: – Documented every time I was late or left early. She was not my supervisor in any way – Referred to me as “the little girl” in a super condescending tone (I'm 20+ years younger than her) – Sprayed Raid on our shared cubical wall. It wasn't safe for humans to inhale, and I'm asthmatic – yelled at me for saying I was happy to help out with warehouse issues because I'd clock 20+ hours of overtime (Exact words:…

So, I've been working for the same company for almost four years. It was my first job out of college.

I was hired on at $12/hr.

All of my evaluations have been glowing. I got quarter raises for my 3 month and 6 month evaluations and then moved up to $15/hr at my one year mark.

Here's some of the BS I've put up with:

A Karen of a coworker. She:
– Documented every time I was late or left early. She was not my supervisor in any way
– Referred to me as “the little girl” in a super condescending tone (I'm 20+ years younger than her)
– Sprayed Raid on our shared cubical wall. It wasn't safe for humans to inhale, and I'm asthmatic
– yelled at me for saying I was happy to help out with warehouse issues because I'd clock 20+ hours of overtime (Exact words: “you should be ashamed of yourself, you should be doing this for the good of the company, not for the money”)
– later yelled at me in front of other employees for asking our boss what I needed to train her on
– loudly complained about me to HR with the office door wide open and my desk right there
(Side note, I did absolutely nothing wrong except be younger than her and try to train her without smiling; I wasn't rude or anything, just kinda monotone, as is my personality)

A horrible boss. He:
– Messaged me and emailed me multiple times if I was ever offline for more than 30 minutes
– Double sent emails if I don't respond within 2 hours
– Forced me to tell him what I'm requesting time off for, and then said he'd deny my request if he didn't feel the reason was acceptable (I lied every time he asked)
– Asked me questions, then double checks my answers with a male coworker. I've yet to be incorrect, but he checks anyways.

I asked for a raise six months ago and they moved me to $17/hr. It wasn't enough, so I started looking for new jobs. A month later, they told me I'd be directly managing a new hire and taking over a director position. Then said I wouldn't be up for a raise until the end of 2022 because money was too tight to give anyone a raise.

I said that wasn't acceptable. They said they'd put me on a bonus structure based on something I did not and never would have control over. They promised me a bonus for the first quarter that never came. I checked the criteria for the bonus and the targets were so far from achievable, it was laughable. Especially because they tied me in with a coworker whose accounts are losing money every week.

I started sharing my pay with coworkers and found that I'm the lowest-paid employee, despite being responsible for $15 million+ (gross) per year. I also learned that my other coworkers were given raises at the same time I was told the company was on a “pay raise freeze”, and no one was getting a raise.

I found a new job and put my two weeks in almost two weeks ago. I have to finish out the two weeks so they'll pay out my PTO.

Management is in chaos. I'm the only one who knows how to manage the three largest accounts. I've propped up mediocre employees for years. I've been told, in no uncertain terms, that this will devastate the company. My response? “You should have paid me more.”

What is management saying to my coworkers? “No one wants to work anymore.”
