We talk constantly about how much our employers are underpaying us, but do you know how much you actually cost your employer? No No, Hear me out a second, I'm not suggesting employers aren't bending us over, but I think we're overlooking the fact that we're getting tag teamed. In CA, where min wage is $15 an hour, your pay before taxes is just over 31k. Of that, you get to take home about 25k. But what no one talks about is the employer side taxes and required spending on things like unemployment, worker's comp, and so on. Why does it matter? Because the cost of those things is calculated based on your salary. When all of those things get put together, and before your company offers you any benefits, your 25k has cost the company nearly 44k. Again, why does this matter? Because without those costs, your pay almost doubles. An extra 19k right there, and the government snatched it up before you even knew most of it existed. Why are we not addressing this more?
