Words of advise for anyone being underpaid working I’m Automotive supply

If your boss won't pay you what you're worth, check with your large accounts. I worked as an assistant manager for napa auto parts for 4 years, underpaid the whole time. I was damn good at my job, and was only paid $16 an hour (started at $14.25 an hour). When my area director approached me about going into store manager training, I told them I'd agree if I'd be compensated fairly. I asked for what I made at my old job (16.50 per hour), adjusted for inflation, which came to $19.25 an hour. After 2 weeks, he came back and offered me $17.50 an hour. It just so happens one of our top 10 accounts had a parts manager opening. I applied, went in for an interview, and within 18 hours had an offer for $25 an hour with much better health benefits, and I'll never work a weekend…

Your bosses don't own you, and if you're paid unfairly look to the customers you have a good relationship with. Someone out there is willing to pay up for a good worker.
