Why do employers expect you to care about their business anymore than what's on your job description.

If you aren't entitled to any of the profits beyond what they pay you, why would you take on any more stress or liability then giving them your time?

This is a given expectation when you join a company, is there a way we can fight back on this?

For example, If a co-worker calls out, and your boss calls you to drop everything and fill in for said co-worker…it is not your problem they didn't accommodate for the likelihood of both of the employees being unavailable…

That is the risk of doing business, and somehow employers want employees to mitigate this risk by giving up their day off.

The US does not use flex companies, and I think it needs to be more common where employees who can't come in for work, the employer should reach out to a contracting company and find a substitute, taking the employee out of the equation.
