So I recently started a new position working at a front desk at a local gym. I am expecting in June and the owner was real gung ho about working with me around that when I haven’t been as lucky recently. With all that being said, it was agreed that I would be working only 4 hour shifts every Saturday. Not a whole lot of hours but I am a student as well so with the support I have already this was something I could make work for me. I was told I would be getting paid every first of the month, and this would have been the first time I was getting paid by them but I have not received it yet. When I asked the owner about it, they left me on read through a text message. I plan to go in tomorrow because I had already agreed to, but when my shift is done I plan on having a phone conversation with them. Regardless of only needing to be paid for 12 hours, I worked those hours and expect to get paid. Not really sure what to do here except say fuck it and not go back, which I would have done easily in the past, but there is also an opportunity here for me to teach yoga at the same gym once me and baby are settled, which is my real goal, and a good friend of mine introduced me to the position/opportunity. Really just wanted to rant, but will gladly accept any and all advice. We all deserve better!
