Workers on 9/11, what was it like that day?

I was only about 9 on 9/11 living in the suburbs of NYC, and as I have gotten older and realized what pieces of utter garbage some bosses can be no matter the circumstances, I was was wondering if anyone has any stores, good or bad about how their employer treated them that day. I'd like to think that most places let people go early because no one knew if we were seriously at war or what was going to happen next, but there had to be people forced to stay in the office or on the clock because “fuck whatever is happening outside of here, we gotta sell some goddamned cellphones!” or whatever. I am ESPECIALLY interested in your answer if you lived in NYC, D.C or the surrounding suburbs.
