One of the worst experiences of my life. I came from working in healthcare (dealing with doctors etc) so I thought lawyers would be similar. Boy I was wrong.
The IT team is treated terribly. Stupid complaints made about us all the time (we’re on our phones at our desk during lunch breaks etc). The business acts on these complaints very harshly. While any complaints we make about staff members speaking to us horrifically are outright ignored. I once had a partner swearing down the phone at me telling me I was useless because she decided to delete her emails from outlook.
Luckily I’ve handed my notice in so I leave at the start of April, but I’m trying to convince the others I work with to look for new work. I just discovered some of them where forced to take a pay cut during lockdown because they where working from home.
But I’m moving onto another infrastructure engineering job. Not dealing with lawyers so that’s a plus.
Today however it ramped up another notch. We found out that we’re unable to have our phones anymore, they need to be in our lockers or bags at all times. Even on lunches? Obviously I didn’t comply which led to my boss attempting to physically confiscate my phone. All because a senior partner walked past and decided, despite the fact everyone else in the office is allowed to shop and use their phones whenever they want, that we couldn’t use ours.
Sorry it’s a little ranty im just tired of being treated like shit and a child because I don’t make £100,000’s a year
