I bought a house in Summer of 2020 in Arizona. We moved from Hawaii. I have a wife and 2 young sons both under the age of 5. We lived in a one bedroom in Kona and I though buying a big house and a yard would be the right move. But the overall cost of living, couple with renovations and maintenance is a little more than I expected. Our overall expenses is roughly around $3,000 a month which included the house costs and living costs. We don’t even have car payments. I work two jobs just to make ends meet making around $4000 a month. I honestly regret making the move because with a big house comes more cleaning, yard work, maintenance etc. I am really considering selling the house and moving to an apartment or something more affordable and not as time consuming. Sure there are perks, we have a nice yard, pool, space for the kids. But I don’t feel like my overall quality of life is any better than before when we lived in a studio and one bedroom. I just feel like I am trading my time for my jobs and maintenance just to live and it sucks. Would you take the profit from the house and move on? I need some guidance. I am really struggling with what to do.
