So I currently work in the IT/Helpdesk space. For all intents and purposes I love the job, it pays pretty well but not great and I know that I can make more money and get better benefits at another company or startup as I have well over 15 years in IT experience. But my problem is that though the money and over compensation is a improvement no doubt, I LOVE the people I work with. Specifically the guys in the IT team!
We all get along great, hang out after hours, have an outstanding chemistry but I’ve lately felt disillusioned with the job itself. Has anyone left a gig that they thoroughly enjoyed all due to the money??
What was your experience like? How did you come to making your decision and what were some things that helped either leaving or staying?
I’ve recently been in touch with an old coworker who made me a offer that’s in the ball park of low 6 figs. A whopping $50k difference and so my life would be thoroughly changed with 2x my take home now. I just don’t want to feel like I’m making a selfish choice and pursuing money and trading the good connections I have now.
