Written up at work

I was written up the other day at work for calling out 8 times in a year. For background, I’m a nurse. We’re not supposed to come to work if we’re sick because we have a lot of immunocompromised patients. My boss basically said that if I call out again before the new year I will be terminated. I’m terrified of getting sick now because I will have no choice but to come in even if I’m really sick or have Covid or else I will be fired. When i had the meeting with my manager I told her that all of the times i’ve called out i’ve been sick (or needed a mental health day but I didn’t say that to her) and she said she understands that but I still can’t be calling out that many times. She claims my absences are “excessive” and my attendance really needs…

She claims my absences are “excessive” and my attendance really needs improvement. I really don’t think 8 days in an entire year is that bad. Maybe I’m wrong but that’s just my opinion. Thoughts??
