I need to quit this campus job. It’s my first job and I love it, as it allows me to be in a sensory friendly environment (I’m autistic), but I just can’t anymore. I get paid minimum wage, and I only work three hours a week despite repeatedly asking for more hours because I have expenses. Furthermore, we have to volunteer for things. Yeah, we’re REQUIRED to volunteer. So I get no pay and the volunteering is allowing a student to stay in YOUR ROOM overnight.
I was going to wait to find another job before I quit, but I thought it would be better to just quit before the semester starts because I’d be doing work I just don’t care about anymore. I already have a second job that pays me more, gives me more hours, and has better coworkers anyways.
How do I quit without sounding like an asshole and burning bridges? I don’t want to be rude because I know if you do it can impact your future jobs (because of course it does).
