You all taught me not to stay and hope for a raise. Thank you.

I've stayed loyal to every job I've had since leaving high school till I got fired and needed to find something new. At each place, my starting wage was my ending wage, regardless of being there a few months or a few years. No performance review, no unpaid overtime, no going “above and beyond” was ever enough to earn me a raise. After finding this subreddit I finally realized that I had to take things into my own hands and put myself on the job market. If my current employer wouldn't pay me what I'm worth, my next one would. I've put myself out there and now I'm going to be seeing a 40% increase in pay from my last job. 40%. I don't know any of you. I don't even comment on any of these posts, but I read things and they stick with me. Shit helps. Thank you.
