So I work in media with an events team. Basically, they go to events happening in our community all year long and promote the event, give away drinks and snacks, and just encourage people to come to these events.
When I started with my company we had a younger woman in her early 30s managing this team. Normally it was filled with college students and she did a great job with them. Cut to this year and she's in a new role and there's a new manager. One who has never managed before in her life. Zero experience in this role and just overall not qualified.
There's a myriad of things this woman has done, resulting in me losing all respect for her but today took the cake. Sent out one of the events guys to a local event. He came and told us he'd be sending us audio clips over the two hours he was there. He kept sending them after he was supposedly done so I reached out and asked why he was still there. Turns out his boss and my boss called him and said he needed to stay an additional two hours because “reasons”. The guy just did as he was told.
Wtf. You can't change someones working hours while they're working. You have to give some kind of notice. I've looked into it for this kid before because he's told me he gets no schedule, just called during the morning maybe a half hour before he's needed to be somewhere. That's also a major red flag. His other team member quit because she was getting verbally abused by their boss over her lack of training, which her boss didn't provide, and an overall dislike of this poor girl, WHO SHE HIRED!
I am flabbergasted.
