I hear this so often from so many older people (boomers mainly). My girlfriend is currently trying to get a job and her parents are saying she isn't trying hard enough. She sent in her application and got an interview. Sometimes they reach out again and sometimes they ghost her. I've had the same thing happen to me when I was job hunting. What did my parents say? “You're not trying hard enough”. They said that sending in my application isn't enough. That we should show up in person and request an interview and that's how you actually get the attention of an employer. Very well, then what is the reason for online applications?! Why do we need to jump through all these hoops to land a job? I thought NoBoDY wAnTs tO WoRk aNyMorE!
