I've been with my employer since Jan 2020.
In March 2020, like many many people we were sent to work from home.
Since then, my boss had said repeatedly that she doesn't need us back in the office and she doesn't intend to be back in her office.
I made the mistake of mentioning in a casual conversation that I might be moving house.
She told HR.
They've now said if I don't live near the London office, I'll have to agree to be paid less.
I asked where I could live to keep getting the same salary… “we don't do that”… i asked what towns or counties count as living “near” the London office…”we can't do that”… i asked for a radius in miles of where i could live to stay on the same salary… they won't do that.
They won't so any of that, cos clearly its bullshit.
There is no company WFH policy (yes. Even after the last 2 years) and the only guidance from the higher ups has been that they'd like to see people back in a few days a week, but irs not mandatory and ultimately it's down to you and your line manager.
We're now in a deadlock/carch 22 position because I've submitted a statutory request to be a fully remote employee and have it confirmed in writing… and they won't respond until I tell them where I'm going to live.
[They've also ignore their own flexible working policy by not responding within their stipulated time frame, sonim wondering what I should be doing next… if anyone's been in a similar situation… I'd love to know what you did)
