“You we’re fine yesterday, why don’t you come into work later”

My S/O woke up this morning feeling nauseous and had terrible acid reflux all day, as well as some bile coming up. He called in to work to tell his managers that he wouldn’t be able to come in, hours before his shift started. His manager said “You were fine yesterday, what kind of sick are you?” he told her what was going on and her response was “Well you won’t be sick all day so we’ll let you come in a few hours late if you need, but if you’re calling out you need to find someone else to cover your shift.” I completely understand that this kind of ‘find your own cover’ is commonplace in a lot of work places but here’s the thing, My S/O works in food service. He’s sick and they want him to come in and touch peoples food all night. I told him…

I told him hell no he’s not going in, and if his boss wanted to be bitchy about it, he should send her proof of his illness (puke) to get her to shut up.
