As stated in the title, what is your opinion on phone usage while working? I have seen some examples here where people have been forced to leave their phone in their managers drawer during work hours.
I worked in one call center where we were not allowed to use our phone, not have it on desk etc, if we were caught they would tell us off. In one meeting they talked about it and said that if you use your phone, it would be impossible for you to take more than 30 calls a day, well there I was on my phone all day, even doing Christmas shopping, while taking 100 a day (the highest in the call centre)center.
Another call center didn't care, people were even watching Netflix on the computer and no kne said anything, Saturdays were much more laid back, people brought in their own laptops and connected to wifi to watch movies, ordered pizza etc.
Personally I think as long as it doesn't interfere with your ability to effectively do your work, it doesn't matter. And at the very least you need to have access to it in case of emergencies.
