1099 “freelance” is not “hourly wage by our rules”. Don’t let companies pay you a crap wage while breaking tax law.

So I have been looking for a remote tech support job, and I ended up applying to a customer service job with “DG Customer Support”. I figured, “Okay, I can do that, why not.” But then I get the “onboarding” letter which said I would be a 1099 “freelancer”. Hrrm that doesn't sound right for a customer support position. They wanted to meet for a Zoom call, and they said, “Willingness to commit a minimum of 25 hours or more per week.” Which also doesn't seem right for a 1099 position. I declined the position because this felt really fuckin shadey to me. Hopefully the other people on the Zoom call thought the same thing.

Not going to let a company pay me peanuts AND get away with breaking the rules to do it.
