I filed with the EEOC for disability discrimination, my disability is protected under the ADA. My employer did not want to provide an accommodation for my dyslexia when I requested one. I was then bullied and taken off tasks related to my position. I was put on intern level tasks because I would not get over my dyslexia.
I filled with the EEOC, they said I could file a charge so I did. They sent the letter to my employer but then immediately closed my case with no explanation and said I could within 90 days. I do not understand how my disability is protected under the ADA law, but I can’t get an investigation for discrimination against my disability. I have voice memos of retaliation and bullying. I have emails and notes, but this isn’t somehow enough?
Asking for advice, I can’t afford to sue. The EEOC was the affordable option for me. I just can’t believe this employer will be allowed to continue discrimination in the future with no accountability. I am not sure what my next steps could be. I understand I could just get over it. Advice is welcomed, please be kind.
