So I just got off the phone with a recruiter who told me about a position that could require me to come in to work at any give time which includes waking up as early as 1:00 am. And I would only get my schedule the day before from 5-6 pm?? So possibly not even enough time to get a full 8 hours of sleep. I would be required to spend 8 hours in the hot Arizona sun and write up my reports in the field as I would not have any time in the office. He said I could be expected to drive upwards of 200 miles a day while doing back breaking work.
Literally the most miserable working conditions all for $18 an hour. The recruiter was up front and honest with me about the working conditions which I greatly appreciate. But damn.. I pity the person who is desperate enough to accept a position like this. It sure won't be me. I didn't get a master's degree to get less than 34K after taxes in an area with a high cost of living not to mention insane gas prices. I'd be a slave to the machine. Absolutely ridiculous. Anyone working in these conditions should be paid waaaaay more. I would have a better work life balance working at panda express for $15 an hour.
