There's a new job I'm applying for and they requested interviews with 5 people, 30 min each. Already asking for 2.5hr of my week is a lot, but it's not the end of the world and I need a job. What is pissing me off is I've now interviewed with 4 different people and somehow not a single one could tell me the salary range, despite me asking each interviewer. Also they all have the audacity to look annoyed that I'd even ask but that's a whole other problem.
I feel like interviewers forget (or don't care) that I am also trying to decide if they are a good fit for me and a big factor in that decision is whether they will pay me enough to survive (and maybe if I'm lucky, move out of my parents house). I feel like it's insane to withhold that information from a prospective candidate and at this point I probably won't accept an offer on principal alone just based off how utterly disrespectful this practice is.
On the bright side, California (where I live) has a law coming into effect in Jan that requires employers to include wage/salary range on all job postings, which hopefully will put a bit more power into the hands of the workers…..probably not tho
