Interview admitted they were “controlling” and “spent more time at work than with their kids”

Just had a job interview with the individual who would be “the boss” for the position I was interviewing for. I immediately revoked my application afterward, as these are a few red flags that came out of the interviewer (again, the boss)'s mouth: “People have told me I can be very controlling.” “I spend more time at work than with my children.” “The previous person in this role left after 1 year.” There were many more major red flags, but these were the top 3. Remember folks, you're interviewing them just as much, if not MORE than they're interviewing you.

Harassed at work for being gay.

Simple. My coworker and I are both members of the LGBTQ community. We are both therapist. We had an office staff come up to us to “speak her truth” about how she feels about us which is that we will be condemned by God for our choices and it was no different than any other sin such a stealing from a coworkers purse which she wouldn’t do. Staff member talked for about 10 minutes about how it’s wrong and we will have to face god one day. She’s currently on suspension but we both received a call today by HR asking how to fix this as in how can we work in harmony with each other. I said I can’t, this was discrimination, it makes me worried for myself, coworkers and clients. I’m so mad because it seems like they will let her return. My coworker states he will be…

“Raise minimum wage to as much as” … fails to understand the concept of “minimum”

Target raises its minimum wage to as much as $24 an hour https://www.cbsnews.com/news/target-minimum-wage-2022/ Minimum wage is the least amount of wages per hour, if there's someone getting paid by Target for less than $24/hr then $24/hr isn't the minimum.

Going to stop pushing my employer to hire a replacement for my maternity leave. They can drown while I take my year off.

This is mostly a rant. Small-ish business, I'm one of 9 employees and am (not to toot my own horn) crucial to the business running smoothly. I'm essentially below the owner in terms of responsibility and daily duties. Because we are such a small business and my maternity leave is starting right at the beginning of our busy season, I told my bosses about it fairly early (in Nov) so it wouldn't be a surprise. I started preparing how-to guides for the stuff that only happens once a year so my replacement can be on top of everything. At the end of December my boss sat me down and told me, in a fairly tone deaf manner, how important I am to the company and how finding a temporary replacement for me was SO important. How t should be #1 on my priority list. That I get to help with…

I’m an American who just moved back to the US after a decade in the UK to live closer to my aging parents.

Before I say anything else, I would like to say thank you to the UK for giving me the opportunity that I never would've had in the US. Thank you, UK, for making me feel like I'm worth something; I truly felt alive. We had two children born in the UK. Each birth had complications leading to weeks of hospitalizations. Kids are thankfully 100% healthy. Nurses came to our house to teach us about parenting/breastfeeding/therapy. This was at ZERO out-of-pocket costs. All child-related prescriptions are 100% free. All other prescriptions are a flat £9.35 ($13). I received ZERO bills in the mail. I spent ZERO hours on the phone paying bills. I never once pulled out a credit card. I didn’t pay a co-pay. We walked out of the hospital without any impact on our finances. My wife had 39 weeks of paid maternity (parental) leave with the remaining unpaid…

Got fired for shitting

I’m 17 and got fired from wendys for using the bathroom after being told I wasn’t allowed, I was in there less than 10 minutes and notified people of me leaving. I was working 5 hours so I didn’t get a break, it wasn’t during lunch or dinner rush I stayed for a few minutes after being told I couldn’t go to wait for the cars to leave. I talked to the head manager today and she said she doesn’t agree with the way I was fired so I still have to come in to work today. What can I do?

Company didn’t want to pay me a fair wage and the day after I quit, it cost the company around $40 Million.

I got an IT job working for a factory in the southern US. This was a very small farming town of about 3,000 people so IT people are non-existent, in fact I lived 2+ hours away from this town when I took the job and moved to that town. This is important information for later. When I took the job, it was a contract position for 29k per year and the intention was to hire me full time directly to the company within one year. My co-worker was full time with the company and was making 93k per year. For roughly 3 years it was just us 2 IT guys supporting 2 factories. Then all of the sudden they give us a 3rd location to support and at this time I was hired on full time with the company for a salary of 31k per year….my co-worker still made over…
