So I asked r/askreddit for tips and stories about interviews and received a lot of information. I asked the questions because I’ve been interviewing A LOT lately and was just genuinely curious about how others interview. Anyway, without veering into too much detail as to why I’ve been interviewing a lot lately I’ll get straight to the point. I think I’ve figured out the best tactic in order to get what you want out of a prospective employer, or just to be hired in general. And in a nutshell it’s to treat them a little bit like shit. It sounds juvenile, but it seems to be working for me. And I don’t mean treat them like shit as in walk in and tell them they’re an ugly piece of shit. I mean kind of like how you would picture a person in high school or maybe college that just sort…

For reference, we work in a long hall where people walk by. 50% of the time I don't have anything to do, but we aren't allowed phones in. What would you do?

Why are people posting their grievances here and not putting the company on blast? That's the equivalent of dating a jerk in high school and complaining about it but not disclosing who it is. In my opinion it's very selfish and not helpful to this movement. Ok rant over. Good day! Edit: point being are we a collective of repressed workers who just want to”vent”. Or are we ready to do what it takes the system. I prefer to be part of the latter. Nobody likes a bunch of whiners with no sense of action.

I applied for a sales management position at a marketing agency. I have plenty of experience in sales and leadership, but none in marketing. However, it’s an intangible service just like insurance, and it is a very similar sale. The boss called me back about the management position and we set up an interview, but when I get there he tells me that no one starts as a manager but everyone can work their way up and prove themselves. I have had the “management/promotion dream” dangled in front of my face at shitty corporations many a time, and the fact that he misled me from the beginning of the application process but then proceeded to sell me a dream is a huge red flag for me. He just called me back for a second interview, but I am not sure how to proceed. Should I politely decline? Should I call…

Seriously, I have been working for 18 years and I have never heard of it. I'm seeing multiple posts of people complaining they only got donuts or whatever but were there any actual people expecting something else? Take your candy or coupons or whatever cheap thing they left in the break room but if you sincerely expected to be appreciated you need to check back in to the real world.
