So, to make a long story short, I'm an OTR truck driver. Things have been going wrong since I started, but I love the road enough to get over it. However, now I'm sick as a dog. Well, not really. I don't actually feel all that bad. But I'm really lightheaded and dizzy (I usually am when I get sick in my sinuses like this), and I can't think straight. It started yesterday and I got off the road early because I felt unsafe and loopy. I was hoping today I'd feel better but I feel way worse. The rational part of my brain, knows that no matter how anyone feels about it, it isn't worth being half conscious and plowing through an innocent family in traffic with 75,000lbs. But I feel so terrible about it. I feel like I'm letting myself down, and my family down, because I'm putting…
Every one I've worked at posts their reviews so that the drive thru or counter workers can see their feedback plus the survey benefits them usually in some way
I started a job in November 2021. I work from home, call center type job. Pays ok, $20/hour. If they ever require me to go into the office I will hand in my resignation. I have been lucky enough to work from home for the last 8 years and will never take another job working in an office. If a job can be done successfully working from home, there is no reason to make people waste gas and time making them go into an office and work. Hell, companies could save so much money if they didn't have to pay rent and utilities. Save so much they could pass on the savings to their WFH employees!
We have fed you all a thousand years
We have fed you all, for a thousand years And you hail us still unfed, Though there's never a dollar of all your wealth But marks the worker's dead. We have yielded our best to give you rest And you lie on crimson wool. Then if blood be the price of all your wealth, Good God! We have paid it in full. There is never a mine blown skyward now But we're buried alive for you. There's never a wreck drifts shoreward now But we are its ghastly crew. Go reckon our dead by the forges red And the factories where we spin. If blood be the price of your cursed wealth Good God! we have paid it in. We have fed you all for a thousand years— For that was our doom you know, From the days when you chained us in your fields To the strike of…
To get started, I’m not doing bad work wise right now,but both of my parents lost their jobs. They have broken English (immigrants ) but are educated and loyal. And the amount of freaking racism they get is ridiculous. I’m also surprised at the amount of things people have to get done just so they can be paid more then $15 dollars . I work with people that make 6 figures and all they do is get out of bed and answer one email. I’m tired of job responsibility inequality. And I’m exhausted that corporate thinks it’s ok to treat people like SLAVES. That crap is SLAVERY
Capitalism treats us like object
I am 38 and mother of a 2 y.o. I work at a marketing firm. For months now I have to work 10 to 11 h per day. Most days, I come home at 7 or 8pm, get my kid to bed, eat dinner and work again. Sometimes I work on weekends too, respond to client's emails or monitoring project progress. And there is no overtime pay. I feel like my life is happening without me. I see my kid like half an hour in the morning and half an hour in the evening. I eat quick meals to have more time to work. I haven't seen a movie in months because when I have free time all l want to do is stay in bed. Work is all my life now. Even when I don't work I still have to think about work because of deadlines, of unfinished projects…
