P2: fired today for advocating for ventilators and respirators in a highly carcinogenic open chemical vat area yesterday

A little more background I think is fair. My last work day was yesterday. I worked at this company for a week+, as a temp. It was my first day at the chemical cleaning station. I spoke with the shift manager about the safety issues I had yesterday at the end of my shift; where he first berated my poor performance for the day, and I gave an honest reply about not feeling comfortable working at the station with so little thought to safety. He seemed receptive too. He even suggested and said that he would plan a meeting with the warehouse safety manager for the next day. Fast forward to today, I'm in an Uber omw to work [yes on time, with a history of punctuality], and I get a call saying not to come to work. 2 hours later I filed an OSHA complaint for retaliation and contacted…

Insane the requirements that Job postings ask for

Whatever happened to hiring someone that was smart and wanting to learn and then training the person. The requirements in postings are insane and ridiculous. Not sure why they can’t find a person and train them.

Co-worker accepted promotion; their manager is blocking it for 7 weeks because they already have too many open positions

Financial services. Their department is decimated as they can not fill open positions or keep the employees that do accept for very long. Peer accepted a role in a much better department. His boss has blocked his move for seven weeks because they are already too far behind. How is this even possible?

question about pay

So, for context, i (19) have been working at this retail store for what will be two years in August. when i started i was making minimum wage where i live ($10.75) and i live with my parents, they let me live with them because I'm currently attending college. i have a decent scholarship so im not hurting for money (i only work 12hrs a week and no boss has ever complained about it), but i would like to save up for when i move and get an apartment. i noticed since covid (coincidentally right when i started wanting to get a job, around when i graduated high school) we have been super understaffed. im sure i was hired with so few hours for this reason. some days, it got really bad. on days i couldn't come in, we had to close because one person cant run the store themselves.…

update #2 to company closing

So check this shit out. My department is a specialized job. We make the batches of product that goes in the aerosol cans. It's technical work with tons of paperwork that errors on can get you fired in a heartbeat. Because people are rightfully bailing out of there to go elsewhere with the looming closing, they have posted mass position openings in my department. They are offering regular production people an extra $1000 if they train and work my department for the last few months, but offering NOTHING to us already trained and doing the job. The guys sticking it out to the end for the severance (been there 15-20 years) have already said they refuse to train any of them. The rest of us are getting interviews and running like hell. I got an email this evening for a maintenance position at a different company that is offering a…
