Hello! A few months ago, I posted a frantic description on how I decided to up and leave my previous employer for greener grass (link!). Some things happened since then that would be nice to have documented somewhere. This post is for me, I guess. The Final Cut Following my resignation notice, they actually made good on taking my input for employing my replacement. I thought this was pretty humbling – I could work side by side with management to air some grievances, and ensure they not only find the right person, but the appropriate team structure for them to get a good footing into the future. It would turn out I got my hopes up and I got goofed. For context, I work at a pizza/catering place with an owner that's an asshat. He steals prepaid tips from our catering drivers, slashes their delivery fee from what he promised them, and also once told one of the cashiers that she is a big girl and should know better when she asked a question. A couple of months ago, my manager who is one of the most down to earth people who always made sure we got our wages and told off the owner when he was doing something sneaky, decided to move on. The owner thought he was bluffing, and didn't bother to find someone until two weeks before my manager is leaving. That didn't work out, so the week before my manager, the owner calls me in. He says he'll bump me up an additional dollar and give me an extra 100 dollars a week to close up…

The more I think, a lot (not all) of management are self entitled idiots/bullies who might get stuff done but have no comprehension about looking after their employees and are happy to step over anyone just to carry out their achievements. They might seem ok from time to time, might be fun having a beer but they always have ulterior motives ! It's a shame that we, the “worker bees” put up with this crap just because we have bills to pay.
