I’ve worked a bunch of min wage jobs and every one of them has done a promotion something like this: “All the stores in our franchise are doing a competition, and whoever brings sales up the most gets a Pizza Party!!!!!1!” Do not work any harder than you have to. They’re trying to make more profit without paying for it. I’m always the scapegoat for not pushing myself above and beyond because I’m not doing it for a stupid pizza slice. I can buy a pizza myself if you give me the raise I deserve. TLDR; they know they don’t pay us enough to demand more work so they distract with bread and circuses

So, I was fired today because of racist and sexist reasons. Black people and men are minorities in the office. They found all kind of excuses to end my contract. First I was told it was about performance then about attitude, then about punctuality. I basically had a meeting with HR and Team Manager who are both females. So, HR first said that everything was great and it was likely that I would get a promotion soon because of my great performance. Then Team manager asked me to go outside so that she could talk with HR alone. After 2 mins I am back in but this time HR starts coming with all kind of excuses mentioned above. They literally had no legit reasons to fire me. But seeing the situation, I concluded that I wouldn't want to work in this kind of place. After I signed an acknowledgement contract…
Well that cheers me up!
Recently I had the audacity to look tired at work (my shifts drastically varied that week from being very late to early morning) and my manager threatened to cut my hours. I explained the issue but got told manager doesn’t control the schedule. If I lose more hours it wouldn’t be worth it to show up. So I decided to casually look for other jobs, nothing serious because I’ve dealt with worse behavior so it wasn’t urgent. Got hired almost on the spot at a new store offering $2 more per hour. New boss even joked he doesn’t care how I look as long as I show up on time. Had a private laugh when she gave me attitude for only giving 1 week notice. Maybe if you controlled the schedule and didn’t put me for all morning shifts I’d be more inclined to help out. Ah well, I’d rather…
