Hey all, I'm (19m) working my first proper job, for a small security company in north London (mainly installing CCTV, Alarms intercoms etc). We have around 10 employees, ten including the engineers on the road. I work 1pm till 6pm. Ive been there a year now and know the company/industry relatively well. I have a large share of running the place, and carrying out roles. Emails, customer service, accounting and bookings. Yup, all rolled in one. The company is kinda struggling to make a solid profit, the turnover aint great. Im a bit naive when it comes to work as I'm new, is £10/hour fair?

how long is too long? listing things my managers (2 of them) have said and done that I think is unacceptable but i heard most people don’t read past 2 paragraphs.

I’m stuggling to find a job (or even get through to the interview process) and i was wondering if anybody had some tips to writing a good resume? I like waitressing and bartending so if jobs pop up i’d like to be as prepared as possible. How would formulate your sentenced also? I feel like I’m bad at that as well…

So I used to work for a broadcasting company. It was wonderful at first, even if in hindsight we weren’t being paid enough. They sold out to a larger broadcast company who may or may not only have a 2.5 star rating on Glassdoor. Immediately things went to shit. Before as long as you performed well you received at least a small wage increase every year. This new company immediately “froze” the raises because “merging the companies was so expensive”. Well the next year after the hostile takeover, (And I mean hostile. Employees who had been with the previous company for 10-20 years left without notice because their 3-4 weeks of annual vacation they had earned was cut down to 5 days a year, and I heard even wages were cut). We were all called into a large conference room, and the manager who came with the new company excitedly…

It had the amount of hours I worked as 41 when I have worked more than that, I have the evidence, what can I do? This keeps happening, it’s the 3rd time

It would be interesting and funny as well to hear, considering the fact that they become your subordinates. The amount of power trip some of them have is absolutely crazy. I wouldn't say that you gave tit for tat but just the fact that they are now working under you would make a massive dent on their ego. Would love to hear your stories.

I have a relative who is a truck driver of 10 years and is looking for a WFH career. He is tired of being away from his wife (disabled) and child. You guys got any advice?
