He got this job as a car salesman and he is paid solely by commission. The thing is, he has to train for about 3-4 weeks before he can sell cars. So he’s going in for a 9-5, which is an hour away, and not getting paid at all. Is this legal? I feel so bad for him. They even made him buy a $500 suit.

[Canada] Work at a retail pharmacy working for The Waltons. Today just got called up explaining how the system failed to clock me out on Thursday 21, and had me clocked in all of Friday 22 (I don’t work Friday). Pay day was Yesterday Friday 29. The amount was slightly more but I assumed it was because of the holiday pay due to Easter. Any advice on my next steps? At the moment I told themI wouldn’t sign anything until I got a proper breakdown of how much was to be repayed/taken off next pay. They had written on a little time slip (the same paper people use to swap shifts). It doesn’t state the amount or anything. Something about 17 hours of overtime in addition to 7 hours of regular pay. None of which makes sense. I’ve already been taxed on it, CPP, EI everything. What exactly should I…
The PhD Chronicles #1
I recently found this subreddit and I have STORIES. TL:DR. My boss tried influencing my birthday party guest list with someone I didn't want there. Then make a big fuss about me not being able to invite them, nor hang out with them outside of work. I left this job last year but I was there for two years. Fresh graduate ready to take on the world. The first red flags were when my boss (who was the CEO) tried hooking me up with her friend's niece. I organized a birthday party and invited my work colleagues, the CEO, let's call her Dawn. Couldn't come but kept on joking about me inviting her friend who is working with us (lets called her Jean) niece. I didn't want to because: I'm gay. But I played along with no romantic discussion on my part. Jean and I regardless shared good times at…

I posted this as a comment elsewhere but i think it fits here too. Side story. Colleges beleive a teaching liscense is useless. I finished a bachelors of science in secondary education, concentration in math in 2011. My financial situation changed and i went back to college for an engineering degree 2016. I signed up to tutor math. Seemed like a kinda obvious move. To be fair, this college usually finds students with an A in a class and the proffessor recommends them to tutor other students. I had just arrived. I didnt know. I DID NOT, i repeat, DID NOT have the qualifications to TUTOR math. Any and all math in the entire college, i was not qualified. Completely blew my mind. I attempted to explain but the words “i have an education degree” did not compute in the lifetime beuracrat's mind i guess.
I wanted to share my husban's story with you. He worked for a company but wasn't satisfied because he made very little money and worked a lot more hours than me (I work les hours and have more payment because I am a teacher with a degree whereas he was a senior IT something). So when I was 7 months pregnant, he decided to change companies, after 7 years in that position. At first everything went fine, he was making 150% of what he made at his previous job and was being trained for this new one. The people seemed nice, they seemed to care for their enployees wellbeing. In that line they mantained the health care we used to have at the previous job so we could keep the same doctors during my pregnancy. Everything seemed fine. After almost three months of trainning he was introduced to his boss,…
