I haven't worked for a while due to illness. My illness is ongoing but it's better than it was. I have to keep my illness in mind when choosing a job. I have tried applying to a couple of different jobs mentioning my illness in the application for full transparency and I haven't heard anything back. I'm scared about working and that I won't be able to do it, because of my health and confidence. I'm scared I won't get a job in the first place because of my illness. I have minimal experience and no qualifications. I'm also disheartened about the prospect of working for minimum wage, especially for the rest of my life. My current government benefits are not enough to support me living on my own so I live with my mother and pay board, but our situation will be changing soon and I won't be able…

We need your keys and badge!
That's nice. The doors don't close anymore because you hired someone to melt all the permafrost. What are keys for?
the tide is turning
I am a 1099 employee that works at a dispensary in Oklahoma, they have stated they report our taxes and that we are 1099 employees. But now they are having us fill out w4 forms but our pay will still not have a pay stub or anything. Sorry if the format is weird I am on mobile.
Pay increase, less money
This may not be the right place to post… anyway, I’ve been fighting for a large pay increase. I’ve been underpaid for awhile now and I finally got it. It’s life changing for my family, or so I thought. I talked to our accountant when I got our taxes done last night and found that this increase brings us to the next tax bracket and is going to heavily cost us next year for taxes… to the point where my increase is going to almost be a decrease. I thought we would be getting ahead and not have to live paycheck to paycheck, be able to put a little into savings and pay more on debt. This system truly does work to ensure the working class stays right where we are, no getting ahead, no ability to do better and more for our family. It’s so disheartening.
I’m from Canada but same logic applies based on many other country. I have never felt so much at peace and stress free. Private sector i was always under stress, time and management up my butt trying to go above and beyond from previous metric. However nothing like this exists in the department I started working in PS. I’m unionized, don’t need to worry about job loss, insurances, no hard deadline, no monthly metric thats I need to pass and most importantly everyone seems to be so relaxed and carefree. Just to give you some example, the work I do in PS is like 2/5 of work in private due to no budget pressure. Then there no guilt trip for taking days off or vacation because even the management is unionized. Also I can get off work to run errands and then come back without any worry. The only downside…
When I finish my main duties, others around me will give me more work to do . Shouldn’t they allow workers to leave once they finish their main jobs??? Like seriously talk about “being efficient” when they purposely make you stay for another 45 mins doing nothing
