My wife’s job of almost 30 years ($100k/yr, management at a non-profit) was eliminated. She was offered a modest severance that we are going to review with an attorney. My wife is scared, can’t sleep, and afraid we’re going to lose everything (I make mid five-figures). She’s also feeling she’s now worthless in the job market (NYC). She thinks nobody is going to want a 55 year old woman. I think we’re going to be okay but am not sure what to do next. Advice about finances, job search, and addressing depression following job loss is welcome.
