Antiwork

3rd week in and my new maintenance job decided to start arbitrarily raising the difficulty of all of my work.

After talking to a representative from corporate, our boss and her assistant apparently decided the following: 'Men can't be trusted to clean apartment rooms' (including a guy who has been working this job FIFTY YEARS and another working THIRTY) 'Everything outside is awful, we don't want to see more than one branch, stone, dog dropping, or piece of trash outside. ' Now, a day later, they've added leaves to the mix for number 2, told me they don't want me EVER working past 4pm, DO want me working equal time at each of the two apartment complex locations they own, DO want me to do the same at that one, and want all this done by next Tuesday. After talking to a representative from corporate, our boss and her assistant apparently decided the following:

  1. 'Men can't be trusted to clean apartment rooms' (including a guy who has been working this job FIFTY YEARS and another working THIRTY)

  2. 'Everything outside is awful, we don't want to see more than one branch, stone, dog dropping, or piece of trash outside. '

Now, a day later, they've added leaves to the mix for number 2, told me they don't want me EVER working past 4pm, DO want me working equal time at each of the two apartment complex locations they own, DO want me to do the same at that one, and want all this done by next Tuesday.

To make things even better, I no longer have access to a bathroom, drinkable water (I have to bring my own and lug it around on the job), a place to set down my stuff, appropriate equipment (like a leaf blower for all the leaves or a trash grabber so I don't need to bend down THOUSANDS OF TIMES IN A DAY), keys to the office building or another place to do those things, etc. The office building, where many of these things are, is now only open the first hour and a half or so of each day. My knees literally buckled TWICE in a row as I tried to get up midway through yesterday from having to carry a backpack filled with things I'd need along as I kept bending over to get trash and branches.

There HAS to be a recourse for someone like me, right? You can't just ask for the impossible over and over again and keep taking away basic necessities, right?
