I applied for a position with a local college for night custodial. … 5 fucking months ago. I was required to purchase a motor vehicle history report before I could even finish my application. 3 weeks later I had received a call telling me I was a prime candidate for this position. Then, nothing for 3 months. When they contacted me, the institution set up an interview. But had been pushing it back for over a month. Last week I was contacted and they set my interview up for Monday night at 10pm. And I went, the interview was only supposed to be 20 to 30 minutes but ended up taking an hour and half after my interviewer requested I go on a tour over the campus. Yesterday I was contacted by payroll to set up my direct deposit. But then today the hiring manager called asked me to come to the institution so we could go over pay and hours etc. But when I arrived he instead asked me to provide 3 professional references so they could get the ball rolling on my “SECOND interview “. So I respectfully but literally told the guy to go fuck himself. If I had 3 professional references I wouldn't need a late night job mopping up shit at a community College. After 5 months of run around, I feel insulted. On my way out I asked one of the current custodians if they went through the same bs for $15 an hour, turns out she's and her other coworkers are only getting $13 dollars an hour. So I showed her my direct offer from the manager for $15 starting. So now they entire custodial staff is requesting pay raises. And I feel somewhat happy. I hope the custodial manager enjoys the pay rate shit storm he's enduring. Fuck you America. I'll just stay on foodstamps.
