8 years and about to throw in the towel

I have worked 8 years in this company and have been a manager for going on 3 years. 52-60 hours a week but salary so it doesn't matter.. the thing that gets me is they preach on family values. We run very short staffed and upper management is a pain and tend to work against you making things harder. Pay isn't great and the work is high stress, fast paced, hard in general (retail store for building materials). We either use PTO or lose it by end of year. They have specific rules about when you can take vacation and no longer than one consecutive week at a time. I get very little time to spend with my family, there is no quality of life. I just entered my 30's and despite being a driven hardworking individual and it being drilled into me from childhood that hard work is what makes a man, this just ain't it.

I want to be able to take vacations & enjoy life.

My first job was with this company out of college and I feel more and more everyday that I'm missing out on my family, dreams & goals.

I was denied FMLA leave with the traumatic birth of my son for not “giving enough notice” and had to get right back into the grind.

I was f***** out of a big bonus (4 moths pay) because a customer was past due on paying their bill (fought 4 months to get it back, was ready to get a lawyer)

I'm just tired, need a change in pace. I better update my resume, wish me luck.

Welcome to the American dream…
