So my company supplies building materials for construction crews to their jobsites. It’s physically demanding constantly carrying 150-250 pounds if the job calls for it. It’s a job where you start at the bottom and work your way through the ranks (laborer, chauffeurs license, cdl, off the road into a more easy role)
There’s a good 6-8 guys that have been doing this for the better part of a decade that haven’t gotten their shot off the road. Recently we found out that our boss hired her god daughters boyfriend to take an outside sales position. In our industry, that is THE job. Company credit card, vehicle paid for, freedom to work from home etc. He is 21 years old with no experience in our field and no college whatsoever. He’s been told to keep it hush hush but he’s already told too many people.
I can’t shake the feeling of hopelessness I have about this. It feels like a slap in the face to every one of us that skipped college and decided to work up in the ranks within a company. It’s like all the experience I’ve gained putting my body through hell and building relationships with the customers this dude is about to be serving is all for nothing.
Not sure if this post even belongs in anti work but maybe someone will read it! I need a career change!
