$800 deducted from paycheck for window repair

My friend works at a gas station in Seattle Washington. While she was working, a person threw a rock through the window and broke it. Her employer then deducted $800 for the cost of the broken window from her paycheck. This seems like it’s a violation of some sort of labor law but I would appreciate any guidance. My advice was to go to her employer and say “look I understand you are deducting $800 but I can’t have it come from one paycheck like this. I won’t be able to afford rent or transportation to and from work.” When she finds a new job hopefully she can report this. I told her to get a copy of her payroll records. My friend is looking for a new job but can’t afford to quit until she has found one. The immediate need is to get back some of those garnished…
