Antiwork

I was misclassified for 6 years, making less than I was suppose to and my bosses are telling HR I had just started that higher paying position a week ago.

I live in Washington State and have been working for a the same grocery store for almost 12 years now. 6 years ago I became assistant manager of the bakery. A few months later my manager told me she re classified me as a Baker so that I would get raises faster. I saw very little increase in pay but figured I had topped out. Last Friday my store manager came up to me and asked if I was assistant or baker because assistant made $2 more than what I was making. She said she would fix it. I guess HR got pissed and asked why it took 6 years to realize and both bosses agreed to tell them I had just started being an assistant. I have yet to talk to either one of them and not sure what to do now. I definitely don't expect to get back…

I have yet to talk to either one of them and not sure what to do now. I definitely don't expect to get back pay for all 6 years but feel like I deserve some of it. Some people are saying to go to HR myself and tell them what really happened. Some are saying to sue. And some are saying to go to Labor and Industries? What are the step I should take? I will see both bosses tomorrow and have such stress because of it.
