Employer pulling the rug out from under me and I need advice

I work remotely and recently made a cross country move to a lower cost of living area. The HR department confirmed that my salary wouldn’t be reduced based on the new area I was interested in moving to. Today, 9 months later, the same HR department is saying I have to sign a new contract with a 15% decrease to my compensation. I told them what they told me, and all they had to say was “Sorry, we gave you the wrong information”. My current contract of employment is for the area where the company is based out of. I officially “moved” in March and submitted the appropriate documentation for my new location. Has anyone dealt with this kind of situation before? Do I have any recourse based off of the written response they sent me before? Edit: I do have it in writing that there would be no change…
