Employers want to be treated as authority figures, but they don't want to earn that authority by taking responsibility for their employees' financial quality of life. If you want me to trust and respect you, you need to show me that you're not just in it for whatever you can get out of it. And if you do display that attitude, expect that I will, too.
And no one should be so emotionally fragile and insecure that they need to pay people to kiss their ass. If you need that, get into therapy.
I'm Gen X, and am very encouraged by the resistance to being exploited that I'm seeing among Millennials and Zoomers. Don't settle. Don't be cowed into submission. Never sell out.
