(USA Serious question) We see things say people on gov programs are why places can’t get workers. What gov programs?

I'm trying to figure out this magical well of money the media and others are talking about. The magical well that is allowing people to pay their bills and not having to work. (math doesn't lie and the actual point of this is where others can share this with whomever that is claiming people aren't working due to gov benefits.) ____________________________ The stimulus checks was a 1 time thing, and the amount that was given was so low it couldn't really pay for anything in most locations. Like even if it paid out monthly, in most locations you would still not have enough to pay for your basics to stay alive. And since the payment was how long ago? There is no way in hell it is this. So I know about SSI, but that has a max $750/m and if you own more than $2k then you…

  • The stimulus checks was a 1 time thing, and the amount that was given was so low it couldn't really pay for anything in most locations. Like even if it paid out monthly, in most locations you would still not have enough to pay for your basics to stay alive.

And since the payment was how long ago? There is no way in hell it is this.

  • So I know about SSI, but that has a max $750/m and if you own more than $2k then you disqualify for it unless if you have a special bank account which you can only get if you are 25 years old or YOUNGER, and there is massive restrictions around it. This $2k is a mixture of clothes you own, car you use to get to work, and other things. And getting on that you need to see a judge and it can be a nightmare.

In most locations $750/m wouldn't cover rent and bills. So… this couldn't be it.

  • SSDI, but again you have to see a judge and you had to work somewhere. And you get a fraction of what you were making.

Since majority of American's were living paycheck to paycheck. This wouldn't be THE program. Note statistically only 2% of adults are on SSDI, and the number hasn't changed all that much before and after the virus.

  • Unemployment is a thing, but you have to be accepted, you have to show you are looking for work, and it only last for 6 months. And you get a fraction of what you were making. So like before, people living paycheck to paycheck can't just live off of that.

So it can't be this one

  • Social Security, but these people are already older (67), and to be blunt. The amount they are getting isn't much. Which is why prior and current you literally have 80 year old's competing against HS kids for the same job or they are cleaning houses for money.

So I doubt it is that. I mean maybe they are for elder abuse. But ya….

  • Unlike what most believe, to be on SNAP and much other welfare you need to be holding down a job. And while things like Section 8 changes place to place. For the most part you need to be working. Like in general section 8 pays 80% and while it can pay 100%. This tends to be those who are extremely disabled and can't work anyways, and it tends to be super rare. And since you can't eat the house, you need to work for food. (and note section 8 only pays for a roof and not other bills)

  • You have lifeline, but you can't eat a phone. So….. ya…

So what exact program or way are people getting money from the gov and not working? Let alone it being enough the population to cause a “worker shortage”

_______________

For anyone needing help, here is a good list of different types of welfare https://federalsafetynet.com/welfare-programs/

I know it isn't a complete list because I didn't see anything about the seed program where the gov made it in some locations where they will HELP YOU buy seeds so you can grow your own food. IDK to what degree they pay, but from my understanding it isn't a 100%.
