I'm starting a new job with a large supply chain company pretty soon since they had a pretty decent pay for forklift operators, making $20/h while being 19 isn't too bad but I took a little bit of time to look through their other positions since the pay was public and what I saw was pretty surprising. No wonder there's a trucker shortage in the US, they're paid only $19-25 an hour at most places or paid super low per mile apparently which was quite shocking. The average salary for truck drivers averages between 29k and 60k which keep in mind is barely over my pay (and on the lower end less than you'd make at walmart as a stocker) while I'm working a position that requires no initial experience or certification because most places have on site training and they're required to have a pretty much spotless driving record and a CDL which costs around $8,500 in my state. Truck drivers deserve to make more than an entry level supply chain position, this is pretty fucked.
