They know what kind of world they're giving to their children. They cannot say they were selfish because not being selfish isn't comprehensible to them. Do you think the selfless own multiple houses? Greed is good, look at all the toys and comfort capitalism gave to them. Capitalism is special and important and you are too!
The solution to every disaster they faced was to sit on their asses (dodging conscription, Cuban missile crisis). We sit on our asses and we still face the climate crisis and immigration/stagflation, now advanced into disrupted supply lines and climate refugees.
Best case scenario for Millennials and Gen z is that we will own our first homes and businesses at age 40, that they did at age 20.
My only possible defense of their ignorance, that they are not malicious, is that their lifestyle has been learned over decades in order to not face reality. Renters, homeless people, refugees, violence and hustle is invisible to them. All they know is white, immaculate shopping centres, and the idiot box that has trapped their heart. Nonetheless, we unfortunately still live in the real world.
