Wage increases are a facade

So I’m sure we’ve all seen by now jobs that were previously minimum wage offering very inflated wages. For example, the McDonald in my neighborhood where I used to work at for 7.50 is now hiring crew members for 17 an hour. Seems like a good deal right ? Wrong. When you apply they won’t give you a decent amount of hours. Most places only willing to give about 20-25 hours at around 15 seems to be the average here in Ohio. Now ohios minimum wage right now is around 9.30 , and most of these jobs had no problem giving employees 32-40 hours on that wage prior. So 15 x 20 = 300 9.30 x 32 = 297.60 9.30 x 40 = 372 They’re only making out having to pay about 3 more per employee , or overall doing a pay cut of 72 per week per employee if…

Now ohios minimum wage right now is around 9.30 , and most of these jobs had no problem giving employees 32-40 hours on that wage prior.

So 15 x 20 = 300
9.30 x 32 = 297.60
9.30 x 40 = 372

They’re only making out having to pay about 3 more per employee , or overall doing a pay cut of 72 per week per employee if they were previously full time.

These companies aren’t really paying anyone more money, and are using their newly “raised” wages to justify inflating their prices when in reality that extra money isn’t going to payroll at all really.

But you may say, but if they cut hours they need more bodies? Wrong ! Notice how everyone is “short staffed” and blaming it on “no one wants to work” nope. They cut down the amount of bodies per shift, running a shift bare bones to cut even again.
For example my McDonald’s used to operate with 2 drive thru employees, 2 grill, 1 front cashier, and 1 runner/bagger , about 6 people on shift.
Now they cut it down to 1 person doing drive thru, 1 grill, and 1 bagger running orders, and doing front cashier, or closing down lobby in general. So only 3 bodies on shift.

Just an observation I’ve made.
