I have just been installed as the VP of a union that is in a fairly weak position but I and the other new officers are looking to turn things around. The company has been buying pallets of water since the facility water isn't great. My state, Oregon, charges a 10 cent bottle deposit. Many of the bottles still end up in the trash or people take them home. There is $278 dollars in dimes on every pallet and they buy several a month. Even if we get 50% over time we can build a nice fund over time. We have also discussed an employee emergency help fund or a Bledsoe trust.
I am organizing shop stewards to collect the cans and bottles to help start a strike fund account. Oregon lets you collect bottles and can with free bags and a increased pay back of 12 cents. I need help with anyone that knows how to set up a non profit or charity for this purpose. basically how does one set up a charity to work in conjunction or for a Union.
